Sr. Architect – API

Remote with home office in Iselin, NJ 

We are seeking a Sr. API Architect to join the Digital Distribution and Mobile group at our Fortune 100 Financial Services client. Specifically, this individual will work on the APIs that support the mobile portfolio. This is the ideal opportunity for an individual with a strong technical background who has a passion for architecture and is looking to play an integral role within a highly visible team. The Architect will closely work with key stakeholders to drive modern API architecture and design principles, while helping improve overall usability for the consumer mobile applications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical expertise
  • Key Technologies – Spring Boot and Suite of Spring Services, Microservices (using JDK 9,10,11), Web Services, Design Patterns, Java, Core Java, CICD, Jenkins, Docker, Electric Flow, Gitlab, Web servers, application servers, AWS, Coherence
    • Nice to have – Kubernetes, Istio, Azure, Mongo DB
  • Architecture certification preferred – Zackman or TOGAF
  • Strong knowledge of API Management concepts & fundamentals
  • Can independently execute requirements and drive design
  • Strong problem solving and creative ability to think outside of the box
  • Able to interface with, communicate with, and present to high level executives in a professional manner 
  • Ability to quickly grasp & learn new technologies and develop POC/prototypes
  • Financial Services experience is a plus


  • Design and implement API solutions and strategy across the mobile channel
  • Lead and guide a team on developing solutions that fully integrate and collaborate with existing IT systems to solve complex business solutions
  • Develop technical expertise in chosen API technologies and frameworks
  • Preparing and defending software design proposals     
  • Prepare and document development and testing requirements
  • Hands on development of POC and products
  • Lead brainstorming sessions to develop potential solutions meeting business requirements
  • Communicate and consult with Mobile architects to develop appropriate solutions
  • Build and migrate software and services for Mobile channel
  • Resolving technical problems (production, development, testing) as they arise
  • Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes as required
  • Providing supervision and guidance on development to development teams
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements    
  • Assess the business impact of technical choices to build a stable and resilient system
