Description:

Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Performs work which involves conventional engineering practices, but may involve a variety of complex features. Requires general knowledge of precedents in specialty areas and familiarity with basic principles and practices in related specialties. May coordinate departmental and divisional project studies and report preparation assignments. This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered. Other duties as assigned.

  • Testing and Commissioning RTUs by verifying functionality of analog, status, and control points for each project’s needs.
  • Working and collaborating directly with First Energy and BMcD engineering groups and leadership for project execution.
  • Communicating with client and contracted field resources to execute project goals and to commission substation equipment and devices.
  • Confirming scope of work, work order, change ticket, and RTU outage requests for each project prior to testing and commissioning
  • Coordinating with EMS modeling group for full scale, one line, and front end processor changes.
  • Remotely operating equipment for testing and commissioning needs
  • Adhering to proper testing procedure for quality control and safety
  • Verifying and Implementing SCADA systems with various communication transports and protocols
  • Updating points lists and project files to comply with First Energy standards
  • Tracking and communicating project needs and issues
  • Identifying, communicating, and resolving issues on projects as needed​​​​​​​
  • Working closely with the Real Time Solutions EMS testing team to ensure deliverables and services are being provided to client’s satisfaction and that projects are following quality guidelines
  • Meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel to develop relationships with key client points of contact
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

·      Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from accredited program. 

·      Minimum 3 years related experience (completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience).

·      Excellent written & verbal communication skills. 

·      Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

·      This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. 

·      Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.

·      Completion of FE exam.

  • T&D: 1+ year of substation or NIA design experience preferred
  • High attention to detail and organization
  • Excellent communication skills and professional etiquette
