Job Title: Control Engineer / System Analyst – BHS (Baggage Handling System)

Location: Orlando International Airport 

Onsite Requirement: Hybrid with Flexible Schedule 

Structure: 6-month contract-to-hire 

Pay: $55-65/hr+ (Depending on Experience) 

 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

As a Control Systems Analyst in Systems Operations within the BHS/GSE Division, you will leverage your extensive controls engineering expertise to ensure the efficient functioning of baggage sortation systems and assigned conveyor systems. Your role will involve overseeing controls design, programming, and implementation, resolving technical issues, and optimizing baggage processing operations for the Authority.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

·      Provide leadership and contribute to the development and implementation of new control systems, as well as enhancements to existing systems.

·      Develop specifications for control system software and modifications, ensuring documentation accuracy.

·      Review control systems documentation for technical sufficiency and accuracy.

·      Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve baggage sortation and control system computing and communication issues, coordinating with relevant departments and contractors.

·      Supervise technical and operational staff, including hiring, performance evaluation, and training.

·      Assist with budget development and monitoring.

·      Implement operational and technical solutions to enhance the performance and reliability of baggage handling systems and control center operations.

·      Develop and train staff on emergency and contingency plans.

·      Plan for future construction projects, contracts, and system enhancements, participating in relevant meetings and planning sessions.

·      Provide technical support to minimize operational downtimes.

·      Ensure compliance with TSA and Federal regulations regarding baggage processing and security.

·      Perform other duties as required.

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

·      Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET), or Computer Science (BSCS), with five (5) years of experience in baggage sortation system support, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

·      Proficiency in PC and PLC hardware, various operating systems (QNX, UNIX, Windows 98/NT/2000/XP), and programming languages (C, VB, Ladder Logic).

·      Familiarity with network communications protocols (TCP/IP, Sockets, FTP, UDP).

·      Experience in a medium to large hub airport is desirable.

·      Professional demeanor when interacting with Authority personnel and vendors.

·      Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends.
