Data Circuit Engineer

  • Design and provision Virtual Ethernet, Ethernet, Internet, MPLS, Managed Security and Virtual Data Center circuits and solutions on the US Signal network
  • Update multiple databases to track order, circuit, IP and other information
  • Create detailed Visio drawings of all Ethernet designs
  • Interface with internal departments regarding potential delays on orders from a provisioning standpoint
  • Troubleshoot issues and escalate as necessary to ensure service integrity
  • Assist Transport and/or Data Engineering with network optimization projects as necessary
  • Provision Ethernet CPE as well as managed routers
  • Occasional participation in routine network maintenance activity (some evening and overnight hours may be required)
  • Provision T1 and DS3 transport/TDM circuits as needed to support the Circuit Design Engineer(s)
  • Other duties as provided by management team

Experience and Skills

  • Technical knowledge of US Signal’s network layout, design, and equipment
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco IOS (Cisco CCNA or higher preferred)
  • Strong understanding of T1 and DS3 transport technologies and muxing
  • Understanding of Firewall/Data Security solutions and technologies
  • Understanding of server design and Virtual Data Center (cloud computing)
  • Detailed knowledge of internal order processes for all US Signal products and services
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Analytical ability in regards to researching orders, finding solutions, and prioritizing work
  • Openness to creativity, innovation, and change
  • Strong communication skills
  • Solid organizational and time management abilities
  • Desire to learn new skills, be challenged, and have growth potential

  • Possess technical training in Internet Protocol or Information Technology related field and/or experience with provisioning IP/data services in a Cisco environment.
  • BS in Computer Science, Telecommunications or Business Administration is a plus.
