Job Description:

  • A Data Modeler is needed to analyze data sources and provide detailed data models for the engineering team.
  • This role requires proficiency in SQL for business analytics and an understanding of the company’s data usage.
  • The Data Modeler will translate business needs into data models that support long-term solutions, maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models while ensuring data integrity by addressing redundancy and unnecessary replication.

Requirements:

  • Proficient knowledge of SQL to perform business analytics.
  • Understanding of and ability to translate business needs into data models supporting long-term solutions.
  • Strong Experience working with XML and XSD (XML Schema Definition) files.
  • Have exposure to retail POS databases.
  • Ability and willingness to stay informed of the ways the client uses its data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop data models tailored to the organization’s information systems.
  • Create and maintain logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and minimize redundancy.
  • Adhere to Kroger’s best practices for physical naming conventions and database coding.
  • Evaluate and resolve discrepancies in data models and physical databases.
  • Work with XML and XSD files, validate data objects, and apply appropriate design principles.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for reusing data models in new contexts.
  • Maintain a model repository with ERWin’s Model Mart and generate accurate DDL from ERWin physical models.
  • Ensure synchronization of physical models with instantiated databases and test all DDL before deployment, across relational databases, NoSQL databases, JSON files, and XML files.
