Full Time Position

Our Manufacturing client in Birmingham is seeking a candidate to lead its accounting department in providing accurate, quality, and timely information and analysis of company operations that assists their team in decision-making. In this role, you will be responsible for managing tax, regulatory, and compliance reporting, and you will be responsible for control and security of all company assets and inventory. You will get to oversee a small team and lead the charge in process improvement, architecting efficiencies and modernizing the accounting technology environment. This is not a company that wants their Controller to do things the way the always have, so the right person will have energy, initiative and an eye for improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Bachelor’s in Accounting or equivalent experience

·        CPA Certificate or License preferred

·        5+ years of supervisory experience in a private company or public financial accounting

·        Prior responsibility in preparation of financial reporting departments to achieve desired outcomes

·        Project management experience and a desire for documentation and originating procedures

·        Creative problem-solving capabilities and a drive for continuous improvement

·        Demonstrated expertise in ERP and accounting systems (experience with specific systems is not required)

·        Strong comfort with technology software and systems (Excel, ERP, expense reporting, HRMs, CRMs)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Design, develop, implement, and execute monthly and annual closing and financial reporting activities in accordance with GAAP and internal standards

·        Audit of balance sheet accounts to validate integrity of financial information

·        Compile reporting as requested by company management and corporate leadership Systems and Software

·        Own all aspects of the accounting modules and expert on the accounting impact from all operational modules within the company’s ERP system

·        Become an expert in the human capital management software platform and administer company’s payroll and taxes through HCM software

·        Identify and deploy other systems and software solutions to gain efficiencies and bring structure to the accounting and finance areas

·        Oversee all aspects of cash management and treasury functions

·        Manage customer credit and collection of accounts receivable

·        Verify accuracy of inventory through perpetual systems, cycle counting and full counting

·        Manage capital asset documentation and depreciation

·        Accurate and timely execution of all accounting transactions

·        Administer employee benefits and corporate human resources policies at the operating company level

·        Lead, manage, train, and develop accounting department personnel

·        Be responsive to ALG employees, customers, and vendors in a timely and appropriate manner
