Brooksource is looking for a Junior Java Developer to join our #1 Banking Client in the Minneapolis, MN area. You will work as part of the larger team to help in the design, development and testing of applications that support the Bank’s customers and colleagues, while helping to ensure consistency with company strategy and goals.

Start Date: July 18, 2022

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in the analysis and review of epics, features, and user stories 
  • Participate in the design and review of technical design of component software features 
  • Develop technical solutions based upon user specifications and technology frameworks, in adherence with Huntington standards 
  • Modify existing software applications as assigned 
  • Participate in the review of Test Strategy deliverables  
  • Participate in code reviews and the integration testing of solutions 
  • Participate in the debugging and resolution of issues found during testing 
  • Assist in the documentation and implementation of software programs and solutions 
  • Work with technical teams interfacing with assigned application 
  • Create and maintain system documentation, manuals, policy documents, etc.  
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings as needed 
  • Research and analyze production support issues 
  • Actively communicate with users and team to provide technical support  
  • Participates with team to establish target dates and complete activities/deliverables under changing conditions 
  • Participates in production releases as scheduled 
  • Participates in the team’s on-call rotation for application support 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Basic programming experience with Java and/or C# 
  • Experience writing SQL queries 
  • Experience with C# 
  • Understanding of or experience with XML and JSON file formats 
  • Strong technical skills and a good understanding of software development principles  
  • Strong business and technology aptitude with a willingness to learn and understand business and software solutions  
  • Excellent verbal and written communications; ability to explain project risks and issues, and IT related concepts clearly and concisely  
  • Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to build strong partnerships and to work collaboratively with all business and IT areas 
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment 
  • High level of professionalism, confidence, and ability to build credibility with team members and business partners 

Preferred Requirements: 

  • A good understanding of solution delivery lifecycle methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Iterative, Agile/Scrum) and project management processes and standards 
  • Experience in an Agile environment is plus 
  • Ability to translate technology into relatable concepts for business partners 
  • Experience with C# 
  • Understanding of or experience with XML and JSON file formats 
  • Experience with YAML or Swagger 
  • Experience with SOAP UI 
  • Experience with Git and Jenkins 
  • Knowledge/Understanding of middleware and discovery technologies
