Monitoring Engineer

 

Brooksource is searching for a mid-senior level Monitoring Engineer for our Fortune 500 partner located in the South Charlotte area for a 3-6 month contract to hire. The ideal candidate will be someone with an experience and interest in application monitoring, working with people, and the ability to thrive in a very fast paced environment. You will work with business partners to understand requirements to provide robust solutions. You will be responsible for enterprise monitoring engineering which includes the design, configuration, development, implementation, documentation, and support of monitoring environments. This is a fantastic opportunity to manage projects for a Fortune 75 Telecommunications company.

 

Daily You Will:

·      Plan, engineer and implement robust and cost-effective monitoring environments, using new technologies. In coordination with business partners, design, engineer and deliver technology solutions across all production and pre-production environments.

·      Identify areas where existing capabilities and processes require change and where new ones need to be developed to meet future business demands

·      Generate, assess, and improve alerting with a focus on proactive alerting and self-healing

·      Partner with support teams to design and implement integrations among various processes and tools which will include detailed rules and procedures for identifying and resolving incidents related to the area of responsibility

·      Drive a high standard of quality and consistency across the monitoring environment by maintaining and improving the standards within the team and by supporting good practice

·      Develop and maintain technical documentation as it relates to monitoring configuration, mapping, processes, and service records

·      Conduct research on monitoring products, services, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the monitoring and enterprise tools space

·      Work with others to develop solutions and recommend actions to improve monitoring processes

·      Other important qualities include, assisting users and answering client questions, tracking issues and steps to troubleshoot. Being able to present information on technically complex subjects in an understandable manner in both oral and written form is a highly desirable quality as well. 

·      Develop and promote standard processes and procedures.

·      Ongoing Cross-Training of Technical and Process knowledge.

 

Basic Qualifications:

·      Extensive monitoring or configuration experience

·      Experience working with App Dynamics, Kabana, Elastic search, Grafana, Data Dog, and/or PRTG

·      Extensive SQL knowledge to write queries and pull data

·      Highly motivated, flexible, and full of initiative

·      Ability to analyze, resolve, and document problems and resolution

·      Ability to present information on technically complex subjects in an understandable manner in both oral and written form

·      Job-specific knowledge, skills or abilities: Trouble-shooting, Problem-solving, Business Impact analysis, Vendor management, and Root cause analysis

·      Demonstrated ability to work with others having differing priorities/views/goals using effective communication skills

·      JIRA knowledge

·      Plus: knowledge within AI or Anomaly Detection Monitoring

·      Hours: Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM, 40-hour weeks

·      Location: South Charlotte, NC
