Production Control Specialist

The main duty of a Production Specialist is to monitor both the online and batch portions of our distributed and mainframe production workflows and when problems arise; either repair the problem or escalate the problem to other personnel. Other main duties include assisting with the deployment of application software or changes to our production environment, special project work, teaching/mentoring entry-level members of Production Control, managing data transmissions to and from the production mainframe, manage bug report viewing and distribution software and assisting the Production Analysts and Senior Production Analysts as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor processing of mainframe and distributed batch jobs ensuring the successful completion of all jobs
- Maintain databases that support job scheduling, report distribution, and system automation
- Analyze, complete and sometimes delegate special projects with little supervision
- Work and train others on the responsibilities of the Production desks
- Accomplish all assigned job functions in a manner that optimizes departmental effectiveness while maintaining confidentiality
Summary of Qualifications:
- One year of experience in mainframe data processing
- Knowledge of computer languages and systems
- Personal computer (PC), Microsoft Office, and terminal emulation experience
- Experience in a position interpreting and communicating information orally and written
- Experience in a position exercising independent judgment and decision making
- Experience identifying and solving problems and maintaining strict confidentiality
Wishlist:
- Experience with COBOL 6 and JCL is preferred
- Experience with BMC Control-M is preferred
- Distributed server administration experience is preferred
