Sr. Systems Engineer / Advisor – Radio Frequency (RF)

100% Onsite – Atlantic City Airport

Brooksource is currently seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer specializing in radio frequency (RF) and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) for our client in the government contracting space to play a vital role in contributing to engineering project milestones for a significant aviation-based program with a prominent agency. This program focuses on UAS detection and mitigation technology/system research, testing, and evaluation efforts.

Your main responsibilites will include developing solutions to engineering problems of moderate complexity, performing end-to-end systems design + integration, overseeing moderately complex infrastructure, such as installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools. You will be responsible for systems modeling, simulation, and analysis, continual security, and documentation of processes.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITES

  • Prepare and execute project plans, test plans, and test cards.  
  • Test and evaluate the performance capabilities of each UAS detection and mitigation technology/system.
  • Review, analyze, and report on the data collected during the test and evaluation period.
  • Develop pass/fail criteria and metrics for testing/evaluating each of the UAS detection technologies tested. 
  • Develop ‘performance specifications’ framework for each type of UAS detection and mitigation technology with the objective to create Advisory Circulars or other guidance documents.
  • Plan and coordinate deployment, testing, and evaluation of UAS detection and mitigation systems.
  • Perform and document a hazard analysis, spectrum interference testing, and other safety-related analyses prior to conducting UAS detection and mitigation testing/evaluations.   
  • Develop method + ranking criteria for UAS platform selection to test for UAS detection + mitigation systems.
  • Assist with each UAS detection and mitigation technology/system vendor with deploying, operating, maintaining, monitoring, troubleshooting, collecting data, and removing technologies/systems.
  • Fully document all UAS detection and mitigation technology/system test and evaluation performed.
  • Continually review and analyze the data being collected and prepare draft Engineering Brief/Advisory Circular language, or other guidance document that describes the performance specifications, selection, procurement, deployment, and management of UAS detection and mitigation technologies/systems in airport environments. 
  • Through longitudinal operations of multiple technologies/systems at multiple airports, will prepare guidance for best practices to manage the effective use of UAS detection and mitigation technologies/systems to secure the airport and ensure fundamental principles of safety risk management are followed.

REQUIREMENTS

· Must hold either Bachelor of Arts/Science in Systems Engineering from an ABET accredited university/college OR equivalent experience – 15+ YOE in systems engineering involving RFI / spectrum analysis.

  • 10+ YOE in systems engineering required for those with Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3+ YOE in systems engineering required for those with Master’s or PhD.
  • 5+ YOE in radio frequency interference (RFI), Radars, Spectrum analysis, etc.

· Strong experience with Excel for statistical analysis and to characterize system performance data.

· Strong experience with data visualization.

PREFERRED SKILLS

·        Demonstrated ability as a self-starter and highly collaborative team player.

·        Any prior FAA or aviation-based experience is a huge plus.

 

ADDITIONAL POINTS

·        MUST be US Citizen and be able to complete Suitability Background Check.

·        Must be willing for potential of some travel (less than 10%) in the future as program expands.
