Systems Engineer III

The Systems Engineer II is responsible for developing new programs, systems, and/or computing infrastructure as well as identifying and documenting business requirements for new development projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop new programs, systems and/or computing infrastructure
  • Identify and document business requirements for new development projects and prepare detailed technical specifications to build applications or infrastructure
  • Provide day-to-day support and monitoring of the computing systems environment
  • Perform hardware/software changes to computing systems environment
  • Program existing and new systems and/or configure existing or new computing infrastructure as project/responsibilities require
  • Demonstrate logical, systematic approaches and methods in development
  • Produce high-quality, functional systems and/or computing infrastructure
  • Modify programs as necessary to implement enhancements, resolve production problems or improve operating efficiency
  • Identify and recommend designs that maximize workflow
  • Initiate support activities that include problem analysis, technical evaluation, work estimates and implementation services
  • Coordinate, as assigned, support or project activities with all applicable constituents including customers using the systems, IT staff supporting the systems, vendors/third parties and/or business managers
  • Identify resources and communications to facilitate work completion
  • Assist with forecasting software to determine system requirements according to company growth
  • Serve as an escalation point for first line engineers to escalate problems and inquiries that require further evaluation beyond their skill level
  • Conduct system training as requested
  • Perform any other job duties as requested

Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree in MIS/ Computer Science or equivalent years of relevant work experience required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a medium to large operating environment required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of programming or system analysis experience

Competencies, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced computer skills
  • Proficient in working with at least two Microsoft products including Windows Server, SQL, Exchange, Project and Visio
  • Experience with a version of Linux is preferred
  • IBM Websphere experience is preferred
  • Intermediate hardware troubleshooting

Licensure and Certification:

MCSE, A+, N+, CCNA, CCNE is preferred
