As the DevOps Engineer, you will support the operational experience for a streaming application on iOS, Android, Web, Roku, Smart TV, Chromecast, and Fire TV. As the DevOps Engineer, you will collaborate with engineering teams on operational support for upcoming releases and/or new feature development to ensure the team is prepared to support them in production.

Responsibilities: 

·        Support rotations (during business hours) that include:

         Being the ‘point person’ for two-week sprints every 4-6 weeks

         Send out daily email reports on the health of the experience from the day before

         Understand the experience health

         Chase down any major sevs to report impact in the reports and in documentation

         Create triage tickets for user forum posts and specific feedback regarding the experience of the application and follow up with those tickets

         Review any alerts from the 24 hours and report on why they fired, and take any needed actions to investigate and escalate

         Stay on top of any ongoing issues and follow up with production support as needed

         Escalate issues to teams that need to resolve them internally and externally through production support

         Read reviews and other feedback to get an overall sentiment or trend and gauge if there are any new user issues that should be tracked down or spikes in issues that may seem new

·        Triage individual issues outside of ‘support’ as needed:

         Use Splunk to identify what’s causing an issue or measure the experience

         Collaborate with engineering teams to understand resolution

         Follow up until resolved or mitigated

·        Measure success of new features or current experiences in production

·        Help create and maintain documentation to generate efficiencies

·        Own areas of improvement to organize and track such as error reporting improvements, success rate improvements, etc. which will be key to operational progress and working in collaboration with engineering teams to make changes

·        Support team members as needed with the overflow of support tasks or additional engineering needs for our data infrastructure and/or language learning tool

Requirements:

·        Must have experience with Python or some basic programming experience

·        Must have SQL or Splunk experience or some kind of query writing experience

·        Prior experience working with data in some way

·        Flexibility is required as priorities due to issues that arise can change at a moment’s notice

·        Ability to work well with other people and take initiative in coordinating and gathering information from other team members

·        Comfortable speaking in larger groups or meetings regarding issues is helpful

Preferred Requirements:

·        Experience with Splunk or Kibana

·        Python is the preferred programming language

·        Database and data visualization experience – inFluxDB, Grafana, Splunk, Kibana
