Junior Data Engineer

Hybrid Role

California


ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a Junior Data Engineer to join their growing data team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about building scalable data pipelines, optimizing workflows, and working with modern cloud technologies. You will collaborate with senior engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and ready for analytics and reporting. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills in a collaborative, agile environment while contributing to the organization's data-driven initiatives.

WHAT YOU'LL DO


  • Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using DBT and Airflow
  • Manage data workflows with Azure cloud services, including Data Factory, Blob Storage, and Azure SQL
  • Implement and maintain data models in Snowflake for analytics and reporting
  • Write and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation and system tasks
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective data solutions
  • Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with organizational standards
  • Support version control (Git) and CI/CD practices for data pipelines
  • Contribute to data governance and security initiatives

WHAT YOU BRING


  • Foundational knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with:

    • DBT for data transformation
    • Airflow for workflow orchestration
    • Azure cloud services (Data Factory, Blob Storage, Azure SQL)
    • Snowflake for cloud data warehousing
    • PowerShell scripting for automation
  • Understanding of data modeling concepts and best practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, agile environment
  • Experience with version control (Git) preferred
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices for data pipelines preferred
  • Exposure to Python for data engineering tasks preferred
  • Knowledge of data governance and security principles preferred
