Job Description

ACE Platform Technical Program Manager (TPM)

Redford, MI

On-Site Role

$70 - $80 per hour

6-Month Contract (Extension Possible)

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Automation & Controls Engineering (ACE) organization develops and delivers the manufacturing technology platforms that enable modern vehicle production. ACE supports software platforms, controls engineering, industrial automation, manufacturing systems, and plant delivery teams that drive manufacturing capabilities from concept through deployment.

Our client is seeking an experienced ACE Platform Technical Program Manager (TPM) to provide portfolio governance across the ACE platform organization. Unlike traditional project management roles, this position is responsible for creating visibility across multiple software and hardware initiatives by building consolidated roadmaps, managing dependencies, improving planning, standardizing Jira reporting, and providing executive-level portfolio insight. The TPM will coordinate planning across cross-functional teams, break down multi-year programs into measurable milestones, and lead executive-level portfolio reviews. This role exists to address the need for unified portfolio oversight, proactive management of cross-platform dependencies, and consistent, data-driven reporting to support leadership in planning, demand forecasting, and resource allocation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Build and maintain a consolidated roadmap across ACE platform initiatives, ensuring visibility and alignment for all stakeholders
  • Coordinate planning across software, hardware, and manufacturing technology teams to drive integrated execution
  • Break multi-year programs into measurable phases and milestones, enabling effective tracking and delivery
  • Identify dependencies, risks, and resource constraints across teams, proactively mitigating execution risks and rework
  • Lead recurring portfolio reviews, executive reporting, and status cadence to keep leadership informed and engaged
  • Standardize Jira structure, dashboards, and portfolio reporting for consistent and efficient project tracking
  • Develop KPI dashboards that measure portfolio health beyond schedule tracking, supporting data-driven decision making
  • Support demand planning, capacity forecasting, prioritization, and funding discussions with accurate portfolio data
  • Influence engineering leaders and drive accountability without direct ownership of technical decisions

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 5+ years of Technical Project, Program, or Portfolio Management experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong Jira experience, including dashboards and reporting
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering initiatives
  • Background in manufacturing, industrial automation, or technology environments preferred
  • Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Technical fluency; deep controls engineering expertise not required

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE AFTER SIX MONTHS

  • A single, unified portfolio roadmap exists across the ACE Platform organization
  • Leadership has access to standardized reporting and portfolio dashboards
  • Cross-team dependencies are visible and proactively managed
  • Long-term initiatives are measured through meaningful milestones
  • Planning and resource decisions are supported by consistent, reliable portfolio data
