Senior Cloud Machine Learning Engineer

Location: 100% Remote

Duration: 12 Month Contract + Right to Hire

Client: Fortune 50 Healthcare Insurance Company


Join the AI Hub team at a Fortune 50 Healthcare Insurance Company as a Senior Cloud Machine Learning Engineer. In this fully remote, 12-month contract role (with right to hire), you will play a pivotal part in building and scaling the client’s AI Shared Services team. This position sits at the intersection of Cloud Engineering and Machine Learning, focusing on the development and implementation of enterprise-grade AI infrastructure and governance frameworks. You will design observability patterns, security guardrails, and centralized AI access to ensure compliance, scalability, and cost efficiency. Key initiatives include building foundational architecture for AI services on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), developing an AI Gateway for model access and governance, managing secure access to large language models and GenAI services, and collaborating with Data Science, Cloud Engineering, and Security teams to ensure seamless integration and adherence to enterprise standards.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including IAM, networking, security, and cost management
  • Hands-on experience deploying and scaling machine learning and generative AI models in production environments
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar
  • Familiarity with data platforms including Databricks, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog for governance
  • Understanding of security and compliance requirements, including PII protection and regulatory guardrails in AI systems

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the foundational architecture and build-out of AI Shared Services hosted on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Assist in designing and implementing an AI Gateway (similar to Databricks Mosaic AI Gateway) to centralize AI model access, enforce governance, and enable usage tracking, cost optimization, and automatic logging of inputs/outputs into Delta tables via Unity Catalog
  • Develop and maintain guardrails for PII protection, harmful content filtering, and rate limiting for performance and cost control
  • Implement secure access infrastructure for large language models (LLMs) and GenAI services in the cloud
  • Develop logging, monitoring, and observability patterns to ensure compliance, reliability, and scalability of AI workloads
  • Work closely with Data Science, Cloud Engineering, and Security teams to ensure seamless integration and compliance with enterprise standards
