Data Center Infrastructure Support Specialist

Charlotte, NC (University area)

Hybrid Role (in office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

Work Hours: 8:00AM – 5:00PM


Brooksource is searching for a Data Center Infrastructure Support Specialist to support our Fortune 500 Energy & Utilities client in Charlotte, NC. The successful candidate will deliver proactive monitoring and issue resolution for data center infrastructure and critical business applications.


Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive and predictive monitoring, support, and problem resolution of all data center infrastructure and software environments, storage, printing, networking, and batch environments.
    • Setup/modify, monitor, and track the client server production batch job flows.
    • Perform Server Reboots or system restarts (IPL) as needed.
  • Provide support internally for any technical issues requiring escalation.
  • Participates on projects teams to provide support and consultation as needed.
  • Participates in rotational schedule to assist with heavy patch deployment nights (e.g. Thursday and Saturday).
  • Participates in ongoing cross-training of technical and process knowledge.
  • Review and complete incident, work order, e-Form, and other IT infrastructure related requests.
  • Lead and participate in service disruption events and disaster recovery exercises.
  • Assists in determining, planning, and implementing necessary changes to the IT infrastructure as needed.
  • Develop and promote standard processes and procedures.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
  • In addition to required degree, 1-year related work experience
  • In lieu of Bachelor’s degree(s) AND 1 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 3 year(s) related work experience

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business (MIS) or related discipline.
  • Strong Collaboration and Customer service skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco enterprise networking product.
  • Familiar with Data Network/Transport Environments.
  • Highly motivated, flexible, and full of initiative.
  • Ability to lead amongst peers to fulfill requests and resolve issues.
  • Ability to analyze, resolve, and document problems and resolution.
  • Strong Written and Verbal communication skills.
  • Experience and working knowledge of:
    • Virtualization Technologies (VMware, Citrix).
    • Data Center working environment.
    • Windows server and desktop operating systems.
    • Linux and UNIX server operating systems.
    • Storage Area Network Infrastructure.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Setup, modify, monitor, and track client server production batch job flows
  • Perform server reboots or system restarts (IPL) as needed
  • Provide internal support for technical issues requiring escalation
  • Participate on project teams to provide support and consultation as needed
  • Participate in rotational schedule for patch deployment and maintenance windows, including heavy patch deployment nights
  • Engage in ongoing cross-training of technical and process knowledge
  • Review and complete incident, work order, e-Form, and other IT infrastructure related requests
  • Lead and participate in service disruption events and disaster recovery exercises
  • Assist in determining, planning, and implementing necessary changes to IT infrastructure
  • Develop and promote standard processes and procedures
