Associate Data Engineer – Middleware (Boomi)

Job Purpose and Impact

We are seeking an Associate Data Engineer with foundational experience in middleware integration and an interest in developing deeper expertise with Boomi (used in UKG environment). This role supports the design, development, and maintenance of integrations between UKG Pro WFM and other enterprise systems. The ideal candidate has a strong data mindset, enjoys solving integration challenges, and is eager to grow technical and functional expertise within workforce management (WFM) solutions.

Key Accountabilities

• Boomi Integration Development:
  • Build, configure, and maintain integrations using Boomi AtomSphere.
  • Assist in managing Boomi Atom and Cloud environments.
  • Apply integration and transformation best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• UKG and Middleware Support:
  • Support integration work between UKG Pro WFM and other systems using Boomi connectors and APIs.
  • Learn UKG data structures, objects, templates, and web services (REST/SOAP).
  • Assist with managing credentials, connections, and permissions.
• Integration Design and Testing:
  • Collaborate on defining integration requirements and data mapping.
  • Develop and validate data transformations, ensuring accuracy and performance.
  • Support testing and troubleshooting in non-production environments.
• Security and Data Compliance:
  • Follow security best practices for managing credentials, tokens, and API keys.
  • Support compliance with organizational and data protection standards.
• Monitoring and Maintenance:
  • Help implement monitoring, error handling, and alerting within Boomi.
  • Participate in issue resolution, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1–3 years of experience in data integration, middleware development, or ETL processes.
• Basic understanding of APIs, REST/SOAP, and JSON/XML data formats.
• Familiarity with Boomi, MuleSoft, Informatica, or similar integration tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

• Boomi Associate Developer Certification (or in progress).
• Hands-on experience with UKG Pro WFM integrations (Person Import, Payroll Exports, or Custom Reports).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or SQL-based data operations.
• Understanding of OAuth2.0 authentication and basic data security concepts.
