Senior Electrical Engineer
On-Site
Long-Term Contract
Compensation: $80/hour
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a long-term, on-site contract position. In this role, you will oversee and support electrical power system design activities for power plant or nuclear projects, ensuring all work meets applicable codes, standards, QA processes, and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for developing scope documents, schedules, budgets, and a variety of electrical diagrams and layouts. The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers, designers, and drafters, assist with system checkout and startup, and collaborate with cross-discipline teams to resolve complex engineering challenges. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of relevant experience, a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, proficiency in AutoCAD, and strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience in power plant or nuclear environments and familiarity with industry design processes are preferred.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Support and oversee electrical power system design activities for power plant or nuclear projects
- Develop scope documents, schedules, budgets, and design deliverables
- Prepare single-line diagrams, elementary/wiring diagrams, and layout/circuitry designs
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, QA processes, and regulatory requirements
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers, designers, and drafters
- Assist with system checkout and startup as needed
- Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to ensure project effectiveness and integration
- Contribute to solving complex engineering challenges and optimizing project execution
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet cost and timeline objectives
- Build and maintain effective relationships with plant staff, engineering teams, and vendors
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of electrical power system design principles (power plant/nuclear experience preferred)
- Proficiency with applicable codes, standards, QA requirements, and federal/state/local regulations
- Experience developing scope documents, schedules, budgets, and design deliverables
- Ability to prepare single-line diagrams, elementary/wiring diagrams, and layout/circuitry designs
- Skilled in preparing design details, drawings, and calculations
- Experience scheduling, coordinating, and executing projects to meet cost and timeline objectives
- AutoCAD proficiency (CAD Overlay a plus)
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to make independent decisions with minimal supervision
- Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
- High initiative and strong planning/organization abilities
- Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, engineering teams, and vendors
- Familiarity with industry design processes (e.g., IP-ENG-001) preferred
