Associate Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

ABOUT THE ROLE
Centene’s Payment Integrity organization is seeking an Associate Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to support claims processing applications and initiatives focused on detecting fraud, waste, and abuse. This is a remote, long-term contract-to-hire opportunity within a Fortune 50 company, offering hands-on experience in test automation and application development. You will work closely with development and QA teams, gaining exposure to modern testing frameworks and tools, and contributing to the delivery of high-quality software solutions in the healthcare insurance sector.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build and deploy test versions of applications and configure non-production environments for comprehensive testing.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts, primarily using Python.
- Collaborate with developers and QA teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.
- Perform functional and integration testing using modern frameworks and tools.
- Support claims processing applications and initiatives to detect fraud, waste, and abuse.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes.
- Document test cases, results, and defects clearly and accurately.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies relevant to test automation.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Internship or academic experience in application development.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Basic understanding of software testing principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a positive, growth-oriented attitude.
- Experience with Pytest (nice to have).
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services (nice to have).
- Knowledge of Kafka or other data streaming technologies (nice to have).
