Junior Operations Support Specialist
Philadelphia, PA
Hybrid – 4 Days Onsite
Contract-to-Hire
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a Junior Operations Support Specialist for a hybrid, contract-to-hire position based in Philadelphia, PA. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals early in their careers who are eager to support day-to-day operational tasks across databases, scripting, infrastructure, and troubleshooting. You will play a key role in supporting both technical teams and core business operations, ensuring systems run smoothly from end to end. The successful candidate will provide operational support to internal teams, assist with network issue resolution, monitor workflows, and help ensure smooth system operations. You will work with SQL Server databases, understand security concepts, develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and Python, and support infrastructure and DevOps teams. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with foundational experience in SQL, scripting, networking fundamentals, and a collaborative approach to team support.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Provide day-to-day operational support for internal teams, including troubleshooting network issues and escalating as needed
- Monitor operational workflows to ensure smooth end-to-end system performance
- Run queries, analyze issues, and support operations on SQL Server databases
- Understand and apply SQL Server security concepts such as permissions, roles, authentication, access requests, and security policies
- Develop or update basic automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, and SQL to support operational tasks
- Assist in maintaining and improving internal operational scripts and tools
- Support infrastructure and DevOps teams by understanding their systems, tools, and processes
- Gain familiarity with server environments, system workflows, and how various technical teams collaborate
- Assist in documenting infrastructure processes and operational procedures
- Communicate effectively and collaborate with teammates to resolve issues and support business operations
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn new technologies and processes
WHAT YOU BRING
- Foundational experience with SQL and SQL Server
- Basic proficiency in PowerShell and Python scripting
- Understanding of SQL Server security concepts (permissions, authentication, access control, roles, and security policies)
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals and troubleshooting steps
- Familiarity with infrastructure and DevOps operations (servers, environments, pipelines, and support processes)
- Ability to analyze and resolve operational issues end-to-end, following issues through to resolution
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to support teammates and business operations effectively
- Detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset
