Field Equipment & Logistics Technician

Location: Richmond, VA (Driving throughout Virginia & North Carolina territory)

On-Site Role Schedule: 7:30A-3:30P (M-F) OR 7:30A - 5:30P (M-TH)

Compensation: $18–$25/hr depending on experience, skillset, etc.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Client is seeking a Field Equipment & Logistics Technician to play a critical role in supporting IT infrastructure operations across Virginia and North Carolina. This contractor position is responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of IT hardware and equipment to technical personnel at various locations throughout the assigned region. In addition to delivery operations, the role supports daily warehouse functions—including receiving, putaways, outbound shipments, and inventory counts—while maintaining a safe, organized, and audit-ready warehouse environment. The Technician works closely with the Warehouse Manager to address ongoing operational needs and must thrive in a fast-paced, field-based environment. The position requires strong communication and customer service skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and experience in equipment delivery or field logistics. Candidates must be comfortable managing multiple priorities, adhering to deadlines, and operating within established environmental and safety guidelines. The role involves significant field travel (75%), office/warehouse work (25%), and equipment operation (26–50%), and may require scheduled and unscheduled overtime as operational needs arise.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Deliver IT hardware and equipment to technical personnel across assigned regions in Virginia and North Carolina
  • Support daily warehouse operations, including receiving, putaways, outbound shipments, and inventory counts
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and audit-ready warehouse environment in compliance with safety guidelines
  • Operate and maintain vehicles (SUV, truck, or box truck) for equipment transport, ensuring proper documentation and safety
  • Collaborate with the Warehouse Manager to address ongoing operational and logistical needs
  • Adhere to scheduled and unscheduled overtime as required by operational demands
  • Demonstrate strong customer service and professional communication with internal IT stakeholders
  • Follow established warehouse safety practices and procedures, including use of safety footwear and equipment
  • Perform heavy lifting (minimum 50 lbs.), extended standing, and navigation of stairs/elevated structures as needed
  • Utilize inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite for accurate record-keeping and reporting
  • Process and act on information quickly and accurately to meet deadlines and operational requirements

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 2–5 years of experience in equipment delivery, field logistics, or related role
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Clean driving record with valid personal vehicle insurance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; strong keyboard and computer skills
  • Working knowledge of inventory management techniques and warehouse operations
  • Demonstrated understanding of warehouse safety practices and procedures
  • Strong customer service and professional communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability; solutions-oriented mindset
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines
  • Able to process and act on information quickly and accurately
  • Capable of heavy lifting (50 lbs. minimum) and extended standing
  • Ability to navigate stairs and access elevated structures; good physical condition required
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude (preferred)
  • Prior forklift experience (preferred); Forklift Certification (preferred)
  • Chauffeur's License / CDL (preferred)
  • Hazmat Certification (preferred)

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Personal vehicle must be a LARGE SUV or truck with enclosed bed (minimum)
  • Experience operating larger box trucks; willingness to use rental vehicles as needed (rental costs expensed by Client)
  • Available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime as required
  • Safety footwear required on-site
