Job Description
Maintenance Worker
On-Site Role
Compensation: $20 per hour
ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Maintenance Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the upkeep, safety, and efficient operation of an institutional facility. This position is ideal for someone passionate about delivering the highest quality care in a secure setting. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing building structures and systems—including plumbing, electrical wiring and fixtures, machinery, equipment, electronics, vehicles, and grounds. You will also supervise and track assigned inmates or residents within the Maintenance Department, contributing to the overall safety and security of the facility.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Maintain and repair the physical structure of the facility to ensure safe and secure operations
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair machines and equipment
- Install and repair electrical apparatus, including wiring and electronic components of machinery and equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment according to the preventative maintenance plan
- Supervise and track inmates/residents assigned to the Maintenance Department
- Maintain and repair plumbing, fixtures, machinery, equipment, electronics, vehicles, and grounds as needed
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and facility policies during all maintenance activities
- Document maintenance activities and report issues or hazards to management
WHAT YOU BRING
- High School diploma, GED certification, or equivalent required
- Two years of experience in general maintenance or construction required
- Technical or trade school courses in maintenance or construction may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis
- Knowledge of building construction and operation of building systems preferred
- Valid driver's license required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication and documentation skills
