Network Engineer III

Charlotte, NC (Hybrid – 4 days Onsite / 1 Remote)

Night/Evening Shift (First 1-2 weeks: standard business hours for onboarding/training; after ramp-up: evening schedule, typically starting 5:00-6:00 PM; most work during scheduled maintenance windows 10:00 PM-5:00 AM CT; little to no weekend work, Friday evenings generally avoided)

Ongoing contract (renewed in 6-month intervals)

$45 - $55 per hour (DOE)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Brooksource is seeking a Network Engineer III to join the Enterprise Network Engineering team in Charlotte, NC, supporting a Fortune 500 telecommunications organization. This ongoing contract role, primarily onsite with some remote flexibility, focuses on maintaining and modernizing large-scale, highly available network infrastructure critical to business operations and millions of customers. As a Network Engineer, you will partner with infrastructure, security, and operations teams to execute network upgrades, troubleshoot complex connectivity issues, and improve the performance, resiliency, and reliability of enterprise LAN, WAN, and wireless environments. This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands-on technical work, solving complex networking challenges, and contributing to high-impact infrastructure initiatives. You will work a night/evening shift schedule, with flexibility provided and minimal weekend work expected.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design, configure, and support enterprise LAN, WAN, and wireless network infrastructure
• Troubleshoot complex network connectivity, routing, switching, and performance issues across production environments
• Execute planned network upgrades, maintenance activities, and infrastructure changes
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure reliable network operations
• Implement improvements to network performance, resiliency, and monitoring capabilities
• Maintain technical documentation including network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures
• Serve as a technical escalation point for production network incidents and operational support

WHAT YOU BRING

• 5+ years of enterprise network engineering experience supporting medium-to-large corporate environments; experience within Fortune 500 or similarly complex enterprise organizations is highly preferred
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies
• Proficiency with enterprise routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF
• Experience troubleshooting complex LAN/WAN environments in production networks
• Familiarity with Cisco wireless technologies; Meraki experience is a plus
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional technical teams
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced enterprise environment
• Preferred: Experience with Cisco Meraki, Palo Alto Firewalls, Infoblox, and Network Access Control (NAC) technologies
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise production environments

ADDITIONAL INFO ON EVENING/NIGHT SHIFT

• First 1-2 weeks: follows standard business hours (approximately 8:00 AM-5:00 PM) for onboarding and training
• After ramp-up: role transitions to an evening schedule, with shifts typically starting around 5:00-6:00 PM
• Most work supports production changes during scheduled maintenance windows (10:00 PM-5:00 AM CT); however, team members are not expected to cover the entire overnight window
• Little to no weekend work is expected, and Friday evening work is generally avoided
