Job Description

Senior Architect
On-Site Role
Compensation: $65 - $75

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a Senior Architect to lead the design and development of command and control plane applications for activating and managing Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) within DOCSIS and Fiber networks. This role is responsible for architecting robust software solutions for device provisioning, configuration delivery, and lifecycle management using protocols such as DHCP, TFTP, and TR-069/TR-369. The Senior Architect will play a key role in developing APIs and interfaces, integrating control plane services with network systems, orchestrating device activation workflows, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable and reliable solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development, deep expertise in DOCSIS technology, and a strong background in network management protocols, with a focus on delivering high-quality, efficient, and maintainable systems.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design and develop command & control plane software for DOCSIS/Fiber systems, including DHCP provisioning, TFTP configuration delivery, TR-069/TR-369 device management, and firmware upgrade orchestration
  • Integrate control plane services with DOCSIS systems, including CMTS/OLT and cable modem configurations (DOCSIS/DPoE)
  • Develop APIs and interfaces for control plane systems and operational dashboards, including RESTful APIs and SOAP-based interfaces
  • Design and implement API layers to front-end DHCP, datastore, and TFTP applications across multiple footprints for unified access and management
  • Design and implement workflow orchestration for device activation and management processes using BPMN or similar workflow engines
  • Troubleshoot and debug control plane software issues across DHCP, TFTP, and TR-069 workflows, providing solutions to resolve defects and optimize performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network operations, engineering, and product management, to ensure control plane systems meet business requirements
  • Contribute to the adoption and improvement of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (e.g., GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Ensure compliance with software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum
  • Apply strong analytical skills and attention to detail in all aspects of software design and troubleshooting

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 5 years in network management or device provisioning systems
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, Rust, or C/C++
  • 3+ years of experience with DOCSIS technology, including CMTS and cable modem configurations
  • Deep knowledge of control plane protocols (DHCP, TFTP, SNMP, TR-069/TR-369), with hands-on experience in DHCP/TFTP applications
  • Strong understanding of IPv6 addressing, DHCPv6, and dual-stack implementations in cable networks
  • Proficiency in API design and development (REST, SOAP), including building API layers for multi-footprint systems
  • Experience with workflow orchestration and BPMN or similar workflow engines
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proven experience designing and implementing CPE provisioning, activation, and firmware management systems
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes)
