ABOUT THE ROLE

Join a globally recognized Media & Entertainment organization as a Data Engineer – Domain Lead, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the data delivery pipeline for a core business domain within a newly-forming enterprise data engineering team. This hybrid position, based in New York, NY, offers the opportunity to work hands-on with large-scale datasets, leveraging Databricks (on AWS) to build and manage data pipelines from source through bronze and silver layers, with gold-layer outputs delivered to S3. You will oversee an offshore engineering resource, collaborate closely with BI and data architecture teams, and ensure domain data structures align with enterprise-wide models. This is a high-ownership role where you will influence data architecture, support reporting and semantic-layer needs, and troubleshoot data quality and pipeline issues. The position offers significant growth potential in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and the chance to directly impact how data is structured and delivered across the organization.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Own end-to-end data delivery for assigned domain(s), from source ingestion through bronze and silver layers in Databricks, with gold outputs landing in S3
• Manage and guide the work of an offshore data/BI engineering resource supporting the domain
• Ensure domain data structures and schemas align to the enterprise-wide data model, avoiding siloed, domain-specific designs
• Partner with BI engineering to support semantic-layer and reporting needs stemming from the domain's data
• Track and manage delivery work in Jira or Azure DevOps
• Collaborate with the Senior Engineering Lead and other Domain Leads to maintain consistency across the data platform
• Troubleshoot data quality, delivery, and pipeline issues within the domain
• Help contribute to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work culture

WHAT YOU BRING

• 5+ years of experience as a data engineer, with experience overseeing or mentoring other engineers or offshore resources
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and the medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold)
• Experience with AWS; familiarity with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses is a plus
• Strong SQL skills and experience with data modeling/schema design at the domain level
• Experience with Jira or Azure DevOps for tracking and managing delivery work
• Exposure to BI concepts or experience working alongside BI engineers on reporting/semantic layers
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable operating with high ownership in a fast-moving, enterprise environment
