GraphQL API & AWS Engineer
Charlotte, NC (Hybrid, 3–4 days onsite per week)
Hybrid Role
$55 - $60/hr. W2
ABOUT THE ROLE
Brooksource is seeking a talented GraphQL API & AWS Engineer to support a leading financial services organization in Charlotte, NC. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative cloud and backend engineering team focused on building modern, scalable cloud applications and the APIs that connect critical customer-facing platforms.
In this hybrid role, you will work hands-on with Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, and AWS to develop reliable backend services, improve application performance, and support cloud-native engineering initiatives. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers and DevOps teams to deliver technology solutions that enhance digital experiences and streamline communication across complex systems.
We’re looking for an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, takes ownership of their work, and is excited to contribute to a modern development environment where reliability, collaboration, and continuous improvement are valued.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and APIs using Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Build and integrate RESTful and GraphQL APIs to enable communication between applications and enterprise systems
- Develop, deploy, and support cloud-based applications and services within AWS environments
- Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to implement infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment processes
- Apply distributed systems design principles to build reliable, resilient, and high-performing software solutions
- Participate in peer code reviews, automated testing, troubleshooting, and implementation of engineering best practices
- Investigate and resolve production and integration issues, leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve coding, testing, and automation
WHAT YOU BRING
- Strong professional experience in backend software engineering using JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful and GraphQL APIs
- Experience developing, deploying, or supporting applications within AWS cloud environments
- Understanding of distributed systems, scalable application architecture, and modern software design patterns
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, along with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Experience working with databases, debugging production issues, and using AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, or automation
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering teams
- Exposure to React, React Native, or Go is a plus
