Job Description

The Senior Cybersecurity Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of strategic cybersecurity initiatives that strengthen the organization's security posture, reduce risk, improve compliance, and enable business objectives. This role will initially support a key Governance, Risk & Compliance initiative focused on improving connectivity and traceability across cyber risk, controls, requirements, metrics, reporting, and remediation.

The Senior Cybersecurity Project Manager serves as a trusted delivery leader who translates strategy into execution, aligns stakeholders around shared outcomes, manages risks and dependencies, and ensures initiatives are delivered predictably and transparently. This individual operates across technical and business teams, partnering with cybersecurity leaders, architects, engineers, risk and control stakeholders, data and reporting teams, product teams, vendors, and executives to drive successful outcomes.

Success in this role extends beyond delivering scope on time and within budget. The Senior Cybersecurity Project Manager connects cybersecurity strategy to execution and ensures initiatives achieve their intended cybersecurity outcomes, such as risk reduction, control coverage, remediation, adoption, resilience, or capability maturity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex cybersecurity initiatives from planning through implementation and operational transition.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, assumptions, decisions, and action items.
  • Coordinate delivery across cybersecurity, risk and compliance, data and reporting, technology, and business teams, managing dependencies across multiple workstreams and stakeholder groups.
  • Drive execution of complex Governance, Risk & Compliance initiatives involving cyber risk, controls, technical requirements, metrics, data integration, reporting, and remediation.
  • Coordinate operational adoption across the interconnected data integration, risk and control mapping, reporting, and governance workstreams.
  • Facilitate planning sessions, stakeholder reviews, executive updates, governance forums, and project steering meetings.
  • Identify delivery risks, resource constraints, cross-team dependencies, and schedule impacts; develop mitigation and response plans.
  • Establish and maintain project reporting that provides clear visibility into progress, risks, decisions, milestones, and business outcomes.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into business-focused communications for leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Partner with cybersecurity leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to align project execution with strategic objectives, risk and governance priorities, capability roadmaps, and measurable outcomes.
  • Manage project scope, goals, and timeline while ensuring alignment with approved objectives.
  • Manage project financials in partnership with portfolio management, including budgets, forecasts, resource allocations, and project time tracking.
  • Drive accountability for commitments and facilitate timely resolution of issues and blockers.
  • Support vendor engagements, contract deliverables, procurement activities, and implementation planning when applicable.
  • Ensure delivery artifacts, documentation, governance requirements, and project controls are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Promote consistency in project delivery practices while adapting approaches to Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid delivery models as needed.
  • Lead project team(s) & contractors, mentor junior PMs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-8+ years of experience leading cross-functional projects and programs in technology, cybersecurity, risk management, or related disciplines, including leading project teams and contractors and establishing clear accountability for delivery commitments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional dependencies among multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering complex cybersecurity initiatives in an enterprise environment, ideally involving Governance, Risk & Compliance, risk and control frameworks, or security metrics and reporting. Exposure to areas such as Identity Security, Security Operations, Incident Response, Cloud Security, Network Security, Product Security, Application Security, or Security Engineering is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of project management disciplines including planning, risk management, dependency management, stakeholder engagement, governance, and reporting.
  • Experience developing executive-level communications, status reporting, and decision-support materials.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment in matrixed organizations.
  • Experience managing project financials, budgets, forecasts, vendor engagements, or investment-funded initiatives.
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to operate independently in highly complex and ambiguous environments.
  • Fluency in ServiceNow Project Portfolio Management (PPM) for project financial management, forecasting, resource allocation, and time tracking.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI-ACP, or equivalent.
  • Experience working within Agile, SAFe, Waterfall, or Hybrid delivery environments.
  • Experience with enterprise delivery and planning tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Jira Align, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity risk and control frameworks, regulatory requirements, and control mapping concepts, including frameworks such as NIST, CIS Controls, Zero Trust, HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC, PCI, or related standards.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity technologies and concepts including identity management, threat detection, vulnerability management, cloud security, incident response, security governance, and security architecture.
