Project Operations Lead

Richmond, VA

Hybrid role (Contract-to-hire)

$45-$50 per hour, depending on experience


About the Role:

Our client is seeking a Project Operations Lead for a contract-to-hire position based in Richmond, VA, with a hybrid work arrangement. As a Project Operations Lead, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Electric Transmission Strategic Initiatives team by providing operational coordination, project tracking, and leadership support across key organizational priorities. You will help ensure that initiatives, vendor engagements, and internal activities remain organized, visible, and progressing on schedule. Working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams, you will maintain visibility into initiatives, strengthen organizational coordination, develop processes and standards for new project implementation, and support effective execution across engineering, operations, supply chain, and vendor partners. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, synthesize information, and drive process improvements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with Smartsheets or similar tools is preferred.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and translate it into clear summaries, updates, and action items
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities across multiple teams within a complex organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective interaction with leadership, technical teams, and external partners
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and situational awareness when supporting leadership activities
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and support organizational change initiatives
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; familiarity with Smartsheets or similar preferred


What You'll Do:

  • Support leadership in coordinating strategic initiatives, organizational priorities, and cross-functional activities
  • Track key milestones, deliverables, and dependencies to maintain visibility into major initiatives
  • Prepare materials, summaries, and updates that support leadership discussions and decision-making
  • Facilitate leadership meetings and working sessions, ensuring alignment and follow-through on actions
  • Maintain situational awareness across active initiatives and provide updates on progress, risks, and upcoming milestones
  • Coordinate activities across engineering teams, operations, supply chain, and vendors
  • Organize project documentation, reporting materials, and action tracking
  • Coordinate onboarding logistics for contractors, interns, and new employees
  • Manage travel planning, meeting coordination, and event logistics supporting leadership activities
  • Maintain organizational documentation including team structures and operational records
  • Support SAP-related activities such as purchase requisitions, invoice coordination, and basic cost tracking
  • Assist with coordination between project teams and supply chain partners for contracts and vendor engagements
  • Identify opportunities to improve organizational coordination and workflow efficiency
  • Support development and documentation of internal processes and operating practices
