MuleSoft Architect/Designer

Remote - Long-term Contract

Compensation Range: ~$80 - $90 per hour (Competitive, based on experience)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our leading system integrator client is seeking a seasoned MuleSoft Architect/Designer to lead the design and implementation of scalable enterprise integration solutions for a high-impact federal government engagement, delivering next-generation travel and expense management services for civilian government employees across different agencies. This is a senior technical leadership role requiring deep hands-on experience with MuleSoft architecture, SAP integration, and the ability to guide development teams, conduct design reviews, and collaborate directly with federal agency stakeholders. You will shape integration strategy, establish best practices, and ensure delivery teams adhere to architectural standards. U.S. citizenship and eligibility for an MBI security clearance are required. WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design and implement scalable enterprise integration solutions using the MuleSoft platform, aligned with business, technical, and connectivity requirements.
• Lead development teams—establishing standards for CI/CD automation, observability, error handling, documentation, and solution architecture.
• Administer and govern the MuleSoft SaaS platform, including API design, lifecycle management, and integration architecture.
• Conduct design walkthroughs, code reviews, and technical discussions with clients and cross-workstream teams.
• Analyze, design, and develop information system solutions; support requirements definition, design, build, test, and maintenance phases.
• Present findings, designs, and specifications to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Collaborate directly with federal agency stakeholders to ensure integration solutions meet program objectives and compliance requirements.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 7+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing scalable enterprise integration solutions using the MuleSoft platform.
• MuleSoft Architect Certification required.
• SAP integration experience required.
• Expertise in MuleSoft SaaS platform administration, integration architecture, and API design based on business and technical requirements.
• Proven ability to lead development teams and establish best practices for standardization, CI/CD automation, and solution architecture.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience presenting to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 8–10 years of experience, or a Master's degree plus 6–8 years of experience.
• U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain an MBI security clearance.
• Concur integration experience (nice to have).
